EVENTS & THINGS!

We're having an "event-full" year at FNB!

Community Banking Week

We hope you enjoyed Community Banking Week in April.  The cappuccino and biscotti's disappeared quickly, so that probably means you did!  Our prizewinners, Deborah S. Korando, Robert L. Fulton, Carla White, Miles Nixon, and Willie B. McGuire all wore big smiles when they picked up their prizes.  We also donated $5,000 to the Steeleville Senior Site.

National Teach Children to Save Day

We conducted bank tours for 1st-3rd grade students throughout the day, April 24.  Several classes collected change to bring to the tour and enjoyed watching it being wrapped in our automatic coin wrapper.  They used the money to pay for a pizza party after the tour.

Our Percy Branch and Sparta Banking Center also conducted bank tours earlier this year.

Older Americans Month

FNB observed Older Americans Month by treating the folks at the Senior Nutrition Site at Steeleville to lunch and a drawing.  The drawing prizes were gift cards to area restaurants.

Arthur Werre, Jr. Scholarship

Six deserving high school seniors each earned a $1,000 scholarship in our annual Arthur Werre, Jr. Scholarship program.  This year's recipients were:  Lindsey Miller and Bradley Gielow, Steeleville High School; Andrea Hartmann and Karen Kettner, Trico High School; and Sean Cairns and Amy Hargis, Sparta High School.

Since 1991 we've granted $78,000 to help our young people earn a college degree!

Customer Appreciation BBQs

June brought our first-ever Customer Appreciation BBQs.  We served hot dogs, chips, beans, and cookies to over 600 guests at our Steeleville-area BBQ on June 15.  Then, on June 29, we held another BBQ at our Sparta Banking Center and served over 300 people - in the rain!

Rain or shine...it was FUN!

4th of July Parade

FNB had a great time at the Steeleville 4th of July Parade.  Bank volunteers tossed thousands of fans, fly swatters, clickers, and soda tokens to parade goers.  Our float took third place prize, too!

Curb Service Day in Percy

On Friday, Aug. 17, our 2007 Customer Appreciation events continued at our Percy Branch where we held a surprise customer appreciation day - 50's style!  The Percy staff, all dressed up in poodle skirts and bobby socks, served free chips and soda to customers as they went through the drive-up window or as they exited the bank lobby.  Greg Vallett Auto Sales of Steeleville donated a 1955 Ford Fairlane for the day, too.  It was a Happy Day!

Home Fest Parade in Sparta

Our Sparta Banking Center hosted the Southern Illinois Miners minor league baseball team mascots at the Sparta Home Fest Parade on September 29.  Big John, Dynomite and Lucky were a home run "hit" with parade goers.  Bank volunteers tossed hundreds of baseballs, toy airplanes, and plastic rulers to the kids.

Oktoberfest Parade in Steeleville

The Oktoberfest Parade in Steeleville "hatched" a gaggle of Disco Ducks!  The parade theme was Disco Fever, which led Ken Kruse to waddle into his duck suit while bank employees tossed rubber duckies to the crowd.  Why not start building YOUR nest egg at First National Bank of Steeleville.
